International World Water Day

22 March 2017

World Water Day is celebrated annually on 22 March as a mean to focus on and emphasise the importance of freshwater. UN-Water selects a theme for each year - this year the theme was "why waste water?". This is a clever play on words with "why wastewater".  This year the theme encourages people not only to reduce their water usage, but also to reuse water. released a shocking statement saying, "1.8 billion people use a source of drinking water contaminated with faeces, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio."

As everyone should know South Africa, or more specifically the Western Cape, is in the middle of a water crisis. Cape Town's dam levels is at a scary 42,5% full. This means that, if people keep consuming water at their current rate, Captonians are at risk of having no water coming out of their taps. "Imagine opening your tap and not a single drop of water comes out" - Eyewitness News.
EWN visited one of Cape Town's largest resovoirs of drinking water - Theewaterskloof and this is what they found...
This video is eye-opening and a taste of reality! It can be found on the Eyewitness News website with a lot more information regarding the current consumption of water in the Western Cape.

Tips for Surviving the Test Series

It's that time of term again. The time we have to sit down and study until maths formulas and science equations are dancing before our eyes in our sleep. If every teacher's threat came true and they DID wake us up at midnight and ask us "What is Pythagoras's Theorem?", we would be able to answer.

No-one likes this time of the term. No-one wants to spend their free-time filling their heads with school work. But don't worry! This too, shall pass (even if you don't).

Here are some tips to make your Test Series more survivable...and maybe even enjoyable.
